The Museum´s Educational Department studies, organizes and presents:
 
Educational Programmes addressed to Pre-School
and Primary School pupils.
Programmes for children with special needs.
Children´s Activity Workshops on a 3 or 8 month basis.
Seminars - Workshops for teachers.
Museum-Kits with material which helps teachers present art subjects
in class.
Publications with artwork from the Museum´s collection as a most useful material in developing childrens aesthetic and children´s creativity.

The M.G.C.A. educational programmes aim to turn childrens visits to the museum into a pleasant and creative experience. With the help of audiovisual material and educational leaflets, various game-like activities children are led:
to explore the Museum and its exhibits
to acquire new experiences and motivations
to develop their creative and artistic abilities.
 
2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

As a new approach, the Museum organizes this year 6 different educational programmes for school children – 3 for each of the two exhibitions presented in its premises – in accordance with the level of the pupils offering two different programmes for each class.

In this way, children will no longer have to wait outside the Museums walls in order to participate in a programme.
Please notice that the programmes are in Greek.

 


Ground floor
"Dining with ... artists"


Programmes  have been designed to be presented both in the Museum and at school.

At the end of the programme presented in the Museum, teachers receive an educational folio with relative work sheets and further relative material for each group as a follow up in class.

The programme includes:

Part 1 at the musuems premisses

For pre–school children and 1st Primary grade pupils, 2nd and 3rd Primary grade pupils

  1. Welcome and acquaintance with the Museum and the educator. Discussing possibilities and restrictions during Museum visit.
  2. Slide presentation showing artwork by renowned artists on he given subject.
  3. Activities in the exhibition premises: oral games and creative movement.Recognition of sounds, association with the artwork, animation of artworks.Playing with all 5 senses: observing, concentrating, describing, further examining, analyzing.
  4.  Art workshop: children create their own artwork in reference to the theme of the exhibition.

 
For 4th to 6th primary class pupils
  1. Welcome and acquaintance with the Museum and the educator. Discussing possibilities and restrictions during Museum visit.
  2. Slide presentation showing artwork by renowned artists on he given subject.
  3. Splitting children into groups. Children in groups of 3 to 5 fill out working sheets.
  4. Presenting the work of each group: each group presents to the rest of the children the results of their observations according to the work sheet they were asked to fill out.Worksheet 1.Recognition of sounds – stages in the process of preparing a meal – Association with the works of art.Worksheet 2.   4. Suggestions for a wider development of the material included in the CD

"When children met Paul Klee..."

Programmes  have been designed to be presented both in the Museum and at school.

PART 1 – AT THE MUSEUM PREMISES

 

For pre–school children and 1st Primary grade pupils, 2nd and 3rd Primary grade pupils

  1. Introduction: Greeting the class and making children acquainted with the Museum and the educator. Discussing possibilities  and  limitations  during  the  visit to the Museum.
  2. Activities in the exhibition space - oral games  and creative movement – aiming to promote observation, description, penetration and analysis of the artworks.
  3. The memory box: getting acquainted with the artist, comparison with the art of children. 
  4. Art work shop: Through lines and geometrical designs children create their own work of art.
For 4rd to 6th primary class pupils
  1. Introduction: Greeting the class and making children acquainted with the Museum and the educator. Discussing possibilities  and  limitations  during  the  visit to the Museum.
  2. Splitting children into groups. Children in groups of 3 to 5 fill out working sheets.
  3. Presenting the work of each group: each group presents to the rest of the children the results of their observations according to the work sheet they were asked to fill out.
  4.  Slide presentation of Paul Klee’ s works, acquaintance with the artist, comparison with children’ s art.

PART 2 – AT SCHOOL

Using and developing the Museum’ s educational package, teachers can furher penetrate the life and work of Paul Klee.
Complementary material relates to biographical data on the artist, quotations of his regarding art and children’ s art, snapshots of  his life artworks,  suggested activities based on the school curriculum.


Programmes are held: Tuesday to Friday 
Programmes last: 1h. and 30m.

Number of children admitted:

Pre-school: up to 20 children
Primary school: up to 25 children
Registration starts in September
 
Programmes for people with special needs


Emmanouilidou Stella
The Museum carries out programmes for school groups of people with special needs. Such programmes are carried out with the collaboration of the Institution in charge of the group under the supervision of the Museums psychologist.

Duration of programme: 1h.
Number of participants: 15

The Museum collaborates with relevant Institutions organizing in its premises weekly programmes.

Programmes are held from October to May
on a weekly basis.
Number of participants: 10.

Art Activity Workshops for children
Children that take part in the Museum´s activity workshops have the opportunity:
to work with various materials
to experiment with a variety of techniques
to use their creative imagination working on a variety of subjects


Programmes include slide projections with artwork from the

Lamaris Christos, age 7,5
Museum´s collections and works of art by well known artists.
Art workshops are held on week-ends on a three or eight month basis.

The Museum also organizes holiday programmes.

The Museum reserves the right to use artwork created during its activity workshops in exhibitions, for editions and publications, for studies and research work.
 

Seminars - Workshops for teachers

The Museum organizes seminars addressed mainly to teachers of Pre-school and Primary school and art teachers:

Learning the use of materials and techniques
Seminars are held on a two hour weekly basis from October to May. As part of their training participants have to assist in a number of educational programmes and art workshops organized by the Museum.

Museum kits on loan
The Museum´s Educational Department has studied and created the following Museum kits:

Museum kits are addressed to pupils of Primary school from the 3rd to the 6th grade. Duly adapted they can also be presented to younger children.
